Be it the conventional study pattern or the modern study techniques you follow, the very common and unavoidable result is eye strain. For a student it's somehow inevitable to have pressure on eyes because they have to focus either on books or on computer for a longer period of time. The situation is now getting so worse that many of the school going children are seen with specs. Another thing; which I think most of us experience many a times is headache or migraine problem. This can also be a result of bad or stressful vision.

So...We should be aware that our such carelessness towards our eyes is weakening the eyesight day by day.

Do you know; eye power decreases due to very simple reasons such as:

  1. Dryness or moisture loss from eyes

  2. Nutritional deficiency

  3. Weakening of eye muscles due to overuse.

Here presenting you some very simple and easy to do exercises and some healthy habits that you need to inculcate in your daily life to get a better and healthy vision.

1. Blinking:

  • Blink your eyes in every 4sec for 2 mins in every 1 or 2 Hrs. interval.

  • Everytime we close our eyes, Meibomian gland produces moisture.

2. Palming:

  • Do it when you are taking breaks.

  • With both the hands at the same time.

  • Position of your hands is important. (Your palm centre should be on the eye so that the end of the palm touches the chick bone)

  • This relives eye strain and gives you fresh and relaxed feeling.

3. Change of focus:

  • As the name suggests, change your focus i.e; in a interval of 20 or 30 mins. , you see one nearer(20 inch) object then again focus on a far placed(20 feet) object for 10 times.

  • Otherwise you just look around your surrounding for 20 seconds.

4. Aqua pressure point:

  • Simply press it to stimulate ophthalmic nerves. (Minimum 2 times a day)

Simple yet most important healthy habits:

1. Proper toilet.

2. Drink enough water.

3. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from harmful sun rays.

4. Use U.V. filtering specs while using computer or mobile.

5. Walk in wet grass every morning at least for 10 minutes.

6. Keep your hands and lenses clean.

7. Don't touch or press your eyes frequently.

8. Wash your eyes 4 to 6 times a day in proper way. (Fill your mouth with water so that your eye muscles will be stretched and then wash your eyes with clean water.)

9. Give adequate rest to the eyes.

Use of Food items to compensate nutritional deficiencies:

1. Fennel: Either you eat as it is or drink its soaked water.

2. Cucumber + Fennel paste : Apply at night for 30 to 40 mins to improve eyesight & to reduce dark circles. (2 times a week)

3. Almond: Eating soaked almond and massaging almond oil under eyes improve vision.

4. Aloevera Juice: Most effective.

(Similarly you can intake carrot juice or spinach juice or gooseberry juice as per your convenience.)
