
IMD DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra updated that Amphan, the very severe cyclonic storm is turning into Super Cyclone within next 12hrs.
The landfall is expected to be on 20th May afternoon or evening between Digha (West Bengal) and Hatiya Island (Bangladesh).
During landfall the maximum sustained wind may be (165 -175) kmph gusting to 195 kmph.
Storm surge of about 4-6 meters above astronomical tide is likely to inundate the low lying areas.

As per IMD bulletin while turning to Super cyclone, Amphan will move within Bay of Bengal from Monday 5.30 pm to Tuesday 5.30 am with wind speed 200 to 265 kmph .
Diameter of eye of Amphan is around 35 to 65 km. (Cyclone with eye is considered as more dangerous.)
Now Amphan with its eye is heading nearly northwards with a speed of 13 kmph .
Current position of Amphan : Around 730 km South of Paradip (Odisha) ; 890 km southwest of Digha (West Bengal) and 1010 km south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh) .
